Scientists believe that the fossil fuels and gas used to produce electricity will run out in next 80 years and the world will have no way left for getting energy unless they will think on it. So we need to take some steps forward to conserve it for our future. Life without electricity is just not feasible. Here we will discuss about different ways to reduce electricity bills by reducing its wastage.

Most fundamental step in saving electricity is to save the unused part of it. Many times we pay bill for the electricity that we have not even used like if we do not turn off the light of a room while leaving it, it will add unnecessary units to our bill. Hence, we need to be attentive and save wherever possible. Always unplug the unused appliances like TV, computer, charger, washing machine etc.

Are you still using that traditional bulbs for lighting? If yes, then go and buy a compact fluorescent bulb (CFL) today only. It will be little expensive than a bulb but it will also save a lot of electricity for you. For producing comparable light in a room a CFL requires only- Watts whereas a bulb uses 60 Watts.

Energy can also be saved by turning down the temperature of your water heater. Check the temperature setting of your water heater, if it is higher than 120 degrees then lower it. This will also reduce the risk of accident in your house.

While sleeping you can lower down your thermostat as it will not affect you much. Just imagine, if you do so daily for 8-9 hours, you can save up to 10% of electricity without loosing anything.

If you really want to save your electrical bills and have some cash to spare, just replace your outdated appliances as newer energy saving appliances can save a ton of energy. Hence, check your AC, water heater, refrigerator or any other heavy appliance where you can save electricity by replacing it.

Besides all the above steps you need to take care of your house insulation. An appropriate insulation can save up to 20% of electricity. For checking fuses, electric leakage and various appliances hire an efficient electrician.

Now you are aware of all the simple steps of reducing energy wastage. The power to reduce wastage of electricity is in your hands only. Studies have shown that you can reduce up to 25% of your electricity bill by becoming more alert.
